Shelley L. Mitchell’s multi-faceted skills have led her into performance in classical and musical theatre genres as well as teaching. During the 2016-2017 season Shelley made debut performances at NYU Steinhardt, in the role of Claire Holmes ( The Secret Garden) and Adriana (The Boys from Syracuse).
In 2012 Ms. Mitchell performed with Indianapolis Opera in their productions of The Flying Dutchman and Threepenny Opera in addition to performing with the Indianapolis Symphonic Choir in their performances of the Fauré's Requiem, Mozart's Requiem, and the world premiere of Mohammed Fairouz’s oratorio, Zabur. In the summer of 2015, Ms. Mitchell was selected to participate in OperaWorks’ Advanced Artist Program, where she was seen in the original production Singed, the culminating performance of her residency there. In 2014 she was chosen for the Young Artist Division in the La Musica Lirica program held in Novafeltria Italy; playing the lead role of Fiordispina (L'impresario in Angustie) composed by D. Cimarosa
Ms. Mitchell currently holds a dual Bachelor of Music degree in Voice Performance and Music Education from Indiana State University School of Music, in addition to a M.M in Voice Performance, and Advanced Certificate in Vocal Pedagogy from New York University- Steinhardt.
